SCHOOL DISCIPLINES
The Parents and Guardians of our students are expected to co-operate
with the school in all matters of discipline. Towards this end, the
Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is appraised of all the school rules
and forms of discipline and makes recommendations with regard to any
additional rules. the present rules are sanctioned by the school's PTA.
The expected norms such as punctuality, regular attendance and good
manners, etc., need not be emphasized here.
The Principal will require the withdrawal of any students who, after
a term's warning, has not shown him/herself to willing to obey the
rules, or work to the standard required, or for whom the type of
education provided is considered to be unsuitable.
All books and supplies provided by the school remain the property
of the school. Text books must be looked after and returned in good
condition. Students will be expected to pay for lost, damaged or
defaced school property.
The following school rules and consequences listed below ensure
that the students are afforded the best opportunity to achieve the
best education that this institution can provide. Please note that
the consequences for rules broken may be given at the discretion of
the administrator responsible at the time for the disciplinary
measures being enforced.
SCHOOL RULES
ATTENDANCE |
Students must attend school regularly and be punctual at
all times. A note from a parent or guardian must be brought after any absence and late students must report to the school's office before going to class. |
BEHAVIOUR |
Fighting, stealing, the use of obscene language or signs and the harassment of students or teachers is strictly forbidden. |
DAMAGE |
Damage to school, personal or private property, is prohibited e.g. Graffiti, shoe marks, writing on desks, etc. |
LITTERING / GUM CHEWING |
Littering of the campus will not be tolerated and chewing gum is absolutely forbidden. |
HONESTY |
Students must be honest, courteous and truthful. Cheating
during examinations and/or on homework and other assignments will not be tolerated. |
DRUGS AND CONTRABAND |
Possession or use of illegal drugs, cigarettes, alcohol
or dangerous weapons is strictly forbidden. |
MUSIC AND GAMBLING |
No unauthorized stereo equipment such as music boxes,
Walkmans, cassette/CD players, radios etc., or gambling games such as playing cards, dominoes, checkers, dice, etc., are allowed. |
OUTSIDERS |
Students are encouraged not to entertain not encourage
outsiders to enter the campus, and students are forbidden to leave the premises without permission from a member of the administration. |
RESPECT |
Students are advised to follow the direction of their
teachers and elders, to stay in designated areas, do
their best at all times, respect themselves and others
and to practice good health habits. |
Rules of the Tuck Shop / Lunch Area
Enter and leave the Lunch line and eating area quietly.
While on the line, face forward at all times.
Be polite to all Tuck Shop staff and Prefects on duty.
Remember to say "please" and "thank you" when necessary.
Sit properly while eating and stay in your seat until you are
finished.
Speak quietly to those sitting next to you.
Always use polite language.
Do not play with your food or lunch items.
Always clean up your own lunch space (table, floor, desk,
and chair).
Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
Chew with your mouth closed and do not talk with food in your
mouth.
Pick up items which fall to the floor or ground.
Put all waste material in the trash bins.
School Bus Rules
The school bus is NOT a jitney. It will stop at assigned
pick-up and drop-off spots only. The bus will not wait for
anyone. Students are to be at their pick-up points on time .
Remember to address the driver in a respectful and mannerly
way and to give the Prefects and Bus Monitors the respect due
them.
The following "NO's" apply to student passengers: -
No pushing or shoving.
No yelling or cursing.
No arguing or loud speaking.
No eating or drinking.
No standing while the bus is moving.
No running on the bus.
No playing of radios, cassettes or CD players.
No sticking heads or arms out of the windows.
No throwing things out of the windows.
Those causing damage to any part of the bus will be penalized. The
bus is for your service. Take good care of it.
CONSEQUENCES
If students fail to obey the rule listed above, they will be punished.
This will take the form of one or more of the following actions.
Meeting with the teacher.
Meeting with the Principal or Senior Master / Mistress.
Parents contacted and informed of negative behaviour.
Certain privileges withdrawn.
Confiscation of unauthorized items.
Payment for or replacement of broken or damaged item (s).
Detention.
Corporal punishment.
Disciplinary probation.
In-house suspension.
Out of school suspension.
Expulsion or referral to outside agencies ( e.g. Boys or
Girls Industrial School).
Parent / Police referral.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
All students will wear the full uniform at school.
Failing to do this, the student must, immediately on arrival,
present a note to the school's office, from a parent or guardian,
explaining the reason. That note will then be signed and given to
the student as a pass to get into his/her classes.
School uniforms should comply with the diagrams and descriptions
below.
GIRLS: white blouse, navy blue pleated skirt, blue or white socks,
black shoes
BOYS: white shirt, black belt, navy blue pants, white/blue/black socks,
black shoes
WINTER UNIFORM ADDITION: white/black/blue jacket or sweater
Jewelery
Students are allowed to wear a wrist watch only. No other form of
jewelry will be allowed to be worn while on campus or while representing
the school at events off campus. All jewelry worn illegitimately will
be confiscated and kept in the school's office until collected by
the parent of the student from whom it was taken.
Hair Styles and Decoration
All hair decorations are to blend with school colors and must not be
over and above the norm. Hair styles must be consistently the same
each day of the term. School is not a fashion parade.
New and different styles will not be tolerated.
